This property nestled inside an established community had an outdated outdoor living space that was separated into two areas. A large deck led down to an older patio and fire feature. The space didn’t allow for large gatherings with friends and family.
As you enter the outdoor living space from the rear of the home you step onto a large composite landing with large steps that lead into the new paver patio. Covering the new patio is a large hip roofed structure. At one end the gas fireplace serves as the focal point of the space while also creating ambiance in the evenings. Flanking either side of the fireplace are decorative cedar screens that create both visual interest but also creative privacy from neighbors. Located above the fireplace is a large outdoor TV with speakers also located in the structures ceiling.
Connected to the new covered space is an outdoor kitchen for a master chef. The kitchen includes a deluxe stainless-steel grill, outdoor refrigerator, trash drawer, and ample storage. Guests can keep an eye on the chef while also watching the game from the large bar connected to the kitchen. Above the bar and connecting the structure to the house is a decorative cedar pergola. The use of infrared heaters allows for use of the space on cool mornings and evenings.
As you leave the main covered space you step into the designated firepit patio. The unique change of materials allows for both visual and textural interest. The masonry gas firepit allows for connecting around a roaring fire or roasting marshmallows for s’mores. The space is completed with a connecting paver walkway to the motor court to allow for access of friends and family. Completing the space is thoughtfully placed landscaping with seasonal interest and lighting for evening entertaining.
The homeowners met with the BPI Landscape Architecture team and asked them to create a masterplan for their new outdoor living space that would allow their family to spend time together outdoors while enjoying the comforts of indoor living.
The BPI Landscape Architecture team collaborated on this project to create a unique design that encompassed the elements and functions requested, but also took into account creating privacy from neighboring properties and adding additional spaces for entertaining large and small gatherings.
A Space To gather together
The rear outdoor living space features a large composite landing leading to a new paver patio under a hip-roofed structure. A central gas fireplace, framed by decorative cedar screens, serves as the focal point, while a large outdoor TV with speakers above enhances the ambiance.
“This space is not only a true transformation, it embodies our core vision. The BPI design team created a unique outdoor living space that will allow for memorable outdoor memories for this client and their family and friends.”
A Space To dine al fresco
The new covered space features a master chef’s outdoor kitchen and large bar, allowing guests to watch the chef and the game, with a decorative cedar pergola above.
BPI helped us transform our backyard from a disjointed space with a separate deck and fireplace to a seamless outdoor living area. Brant took our ideas and translated them into a beautiful design that we enjoy every single day. Larry worked diligently to project manage and make sure we were updated on questions, the timeline, etc. We are so happy with our resulting space that includes a covered area, dining area and fire feature that all seamlessly work together to make entertaining a joy. We would enthusiastically recommend BPI to anyone.
A Space to Relax in Nature
The masonry fire feature provides a cozy setting for gathering around a roaring fire or making s’mores. A connecting paver walkway leads to the motor court for convenient access, and the space is enhanced with thoughtful landscaping and evening lighting for entertaining.
